The key objective of this multi-disciplinary discussion group is to help articulate the perspectives of the Global South on the immediate issues, risks and consequences of the current and future pandemics, broadly defined, within the G20 member countries and across the Global South.
The multi-disciplinary group of experts and leaders focuses on the social and economic impacts of the pandemic as well as policy solutions in the following areas:
- Social cohesion, macroeconomic resilience, microeconomic impacts.
- Social safety nets
- Social and economic resilience and the importance of a gender lens
- Health as a global public good that is a critical factor for the economic viability of communities, countries, regions, and the global economy
- Governance and accountability
This discussion group identifies key issues, proposes solutions, and draws on lessons of experience.
