Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect when you browse the new WEIForward website including cookies and similar technologies and when you use our Contact form, and how we keep that information safe.
Your information is in good hands
We only ask for what we need to respond to you. We do not sell your personal information. We use reasonable safeguards to protect messages sent through our site, and we limit access to people who need it to answer your inquiry or run our organization securely.
Who we are
This website is operated by the Women’s Economic Imperative (“WEI,” “WEIForward,” or “we”). WEIForward advances women’s and youth economic empowerment and inclusive economies through programs, partnerships, and thought leadership. The Women’s Economic Imperative is a U.S. nonprofit organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Cookies and similar technologies
Because WEIForward is visited from many countries, we use a cookie consent tool (via our WordPress site) so visitors can understand and, where required, choose which optional cookies or scripts run on their device.
Strictly necessary cookies help the site work (for example, security, load balancing, or remembering your cookie choices). These do not usually require consent in the same way as optional analytics or marketing tools.
Optional cookies may include, depending on how we configure the site:
- Analytics (for example, to understand how pages are used – insert provider name, e.g. Google Analytics, after setup)
- Embedded media or social features (for example, video or share buttons that set third-party cookies – list services you embed)
- Marketing or advertising (only if you enable them – list if any)
You can change or withdraw optional choices at any time using the “Cookie settings” or similar link provided by our consent tool (often shown in the site footer or banner). Blocking some optional cookies may limit certain features.
For a current list of cookies by name, duration, and provider, see the cookie declaration or report generated by your consent plugin, and keep this policy aligned with that list.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
If privacy laws such as the GDPR (European Economic Area) or UK GDPR apply to our processing of your personal data, we rely on appropriate bases for example, consent for optional cookies and certain communications, legitimate interests where allowed (such as site security or responding to inquiries), or contract / pre-contract steps when needed. You may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability in some cases, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country. Contact us first so we can help.
International transfers
Information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers of personal data – your counsel can confirm what applies once processors are chosen.
What information we collect (Contact page)
When you submit a message through our contact form, we may collect the following information:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The message you submit, along with any additional details you choose to provide (such as your organization or phone number, if requested in the form)
- Basic technical information that websites and browsers commonly collect automatically, such as the date and time of submission and, in some cases, your general location or IP address. This information helps us prevent spam, maintain website security, and improve site functionality.
Why we use your information
We use information submitted through our contact form only for purposes that are reasonably expected, including:
- Responding to your questions, comments, or requests
- Following up on inquiries related to partnerships, programs, events, or media opportunities
- Protecting our website and systems from spam, fraud, or misuse
- Meeting legal, regulatory, or recordkeeping obligations where required
How long we keep your information
We retain contact form submissions only for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain reasonable internal records, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of your request and the systems involved. You may contact us to request deletion of your information where applicable.
Who Can Access Your Information
Access to personal information is limited to authorized WEIForward staff and volunteers who need it to respond to your inquiry or support our operations.
Like many organizations, we also work with trusted third-party service providers that help us host our website, deliver email communications, or protect the site from spam and abuse. These providers may process information on our behalf under appropriate contractual safeguards and are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing purposes.
Selling or Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share contact form submissions with advertisers.
If we ever use tools or services that process information in ways that may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable U.S. state privacy laws, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, provide a clear opportunity to opt out.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable privacy laws, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing
To submit a request or ask a privacy-related question, please contact us using the details provided on our Contact page. We will make reasonable efforts to respond promptly and in accordance with applicable laws.
Children’s privacy
Our website is not intended for children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our contact form, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Visitors outside the United States
WEIForward is based in the United States. If you access our website or contact us from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those in your country of residence.
Where possible, our cookie consent and privacy tools are designed to help us respect regional privacy expectations and legal requirements.
Links to Third-Party Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, including partner organizations and social media platforms. These websites operate independently and are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies before providing personal information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or organizational needs. When updates are made, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of the policy. Where appropriate, we may also post a notice on our website highlighting significant changes.
